Friday! I get to go home! This will be the first time back home in three weeks. Many, many chores await, but I have one little stop to make.

It’s for sale and it’s well within my budget. Not exactly what I want, but it would be a good time builder for my son and I. It’s also along the way, so  that makes it easy to see.

That is delightful news. Looks like a peach, and not the concentrated long-term insanity of a KR2 kit or something like.

I have several concerns about making the leap. The biggest one is having to make the transition to a high wing. I’ve been training in Pipers so far and I have to say that I like the low wing better. Unfortunately, Pipers command a much higher price than Cessnas.

They were the V6 Mustang/Miata is always the answer cliche of the kitplane community about fifteen or twenty years ago, or at least they seemed to be. Back when somebody (we still don’t actually know who) bought my dad a year’s subscription to Kitplane .

Mind you, aircraft are by no means foreign to the family - my grandfather had a Luscombe, one of my dad’s brothers used to fly and one still does, and I’ve got a cousin doing it professionally as part of his job as an aircraft broker. But my dad doesn’t own one and doesn’t have a pilot’s license.

Well, it was a sad little plane, not worth the asking price. This picture says it all:

Yes, those are dead tree frogs on the dashboard. The whole plane has been neglecte. The worst part is a significant leak in the back window. Moisture has built up inside and now fungus and mold are growing in the cockpit.

It’s ok. There are LOTS of 150s out there. I already have a bead on two others, but both are farther away.
